From Constant Retraining to “They’ve Got It Covered”

We built a checklist-driven training system that halved onboarding time and gave permanent staff their day back.

CASE STUDY: Training That Doesn’t Walk Out the Door

The Problem

At this busy resort, staff turnover was constant. With a mix of backpackers, seasonal workers, and short-term hires, the team struggled to keep up with training.

Permanent staff were getting frustrated, they were constantly having to stop what they were doing to show someone (again) how to complete a task. No one had the time to train properly, and it showed.

What I Did

  • Created a daily checklist system for each role and area

  • Linked each checklist item to a simple step-by-step procedure

  • Made it visual and easy to follow—so if someone didn’t know how to do something, they could check the procedure, and follow along.

It wasn’t fancy. It was practical. And it worked.

The Outcome

  • Training time for new staff was cut in half

  • Tasks were completed more consistently

  • Long-term staff got their time (and sanity) back

  • New hires could hit the ground running without hand-holding

  • Customer satisfaction went up greatly, as small mistakes were no longer been made.

This gave the team breathing room, and gave the business a system that worked no matter who was working that week.
